The Internet is rife with rumours on the replacement for the popular Xbox 360. Consensus shows that the most popular name is the Microsoft Xbox 720. What else could they call it, the Xbox 360 2, II or Mark II .. me thinks not.

But what the Xbox 720 will look like and have inside it, are still a mystery - outside of Microsoft HQ that is. Whilst you and I may want to see that the Xbox 720 comes with a blu-ray player to compete with the Sony PS4, this is highly unlikely. Why? Well, as Blu-Ray technology is a Sony development, Microsoft won't want to pay Sony for this technology. It is more likely that they will focus on HDTV or 3D TV.

If we consider how music has gone, we download mp3 files rather than buy CDs. It is therefore, likely that the Xbox 720 will give gamers the option to downloading games direct from the internet. Add to this the latest developments in LTE Broadband, where download speeds of up to 100 Mbps are realistic, and blu-ray discs are a distant memory.
